Long post ahead. My thoughts about recent "discoveries" (sorry, in English) 1.- I hope those who were caught in that video face any consequences that their shitty behaviour might bring to them. 2.- I hope those that were doing this same thing before get exposed too or at least I hope they hide in a place so deep and dark that we don't have to see their faces again and girls can breathe again. 3.- This is for organisers: I am really happy to see that some of you have already taken actions aligned with recent facts, but IMHO there are still some behaviours that somehow help these things to happen. Please no more dark rooms and no more "targeted" pitch black after parties (if people want dark rooms they can make those themselves) 4.- People please love yourselves a bit more! I have observed that in a lot of festivals people don't go there to have fun while dancing and to meet friends but to feel that others desire them. Don't get me wrong, we all like to feel others like us, but any extreme is bad and this is no exception. Just be yourself, you have nothing to prove, especially to people you might not meet again. Nope, wrong. 5.- Please don't forget the social aspect of the dance! Please invite girls/guys/women/men that are not the hottest or prettiest or most handsome... this is about having fun! Also this goes for organizers/DJs: playing tarraxinha all night long doesn't help that everyone dances with everyone. Kizomba/semba/"retro urban" works well for this. 6.- Be smart. Not everything is ok even if you are trying to feel desired or to show that you are cool. If I see a dark alley at night and I am alone, I won't choose to go there to see what happens and then get surprised if I get robbed. Do you get the idea? Same here: don't ignore all the warning flags you see/feel and if besides this someone tries to force you to anything, again raise your voice. There are plenty people in a festival and while most will just mind their own business I know there are people that will really jump and will get you covered. 7.- "If you see something, say something". Girls, I know some of you have been aware of this behaviour from a while and even know who were doing it. Raise your voice! Tell your friends and other women in the festivals. Same goes for guys, imagine that these girls that these predators are objectifying and using could be your friends or even sisters or daughters. If you happen to get any of these videos or heard something, please share (who they are, not the videos!). Remember that you can always do things anonymously so you can be safe! 8.- We all have the right to enjoy sex in any (or several) of the different flavours and feel free to do so. It's not fair that we are still having this middle age mindset where guys are cool if they have sex with girls but if girls do the same then they are "easy" (at the very least). Same go with LGBT collective inside the dancing scene. Whoever you are, please don't hide and don't be afraid to raise your voice and expose similar cases if you have to. Maybe some people will judge you, but there will be a majority of people that will support you. Give us a chance! 9.- I am sure you have felt that in some festivals the atmosphere is simply wrong. People don't make eye contact and it's more about to show off than to enjoy and share the fun for the dance. Festivals are what we are, so please remember: "behave with others as you'd like others to behave with you". We are still in time to push this back to the positive thing it was not so long ago (and it still is if you choose wisely your festivals) My 2 cents.
